“ Enchanted Epiphany “

I was tickled to receive the “Enchanted Epiphany” Challenge. I was immediately thinking of enchanted forests, hidden gardens, talismans and the forest illustrations of Ivan Bilibin. A hidden doorway in the forest has to lead somewhere, so my piece is the front of a little 8cm by 10 cm jewellery box for a single pendant, to be inserted from the top. The gate stands open to beckon the viewer in, but the talisman waiting inside cannot be seen.

As a beginning enamelist, nearly every part of this piece was challenging, but I am very pleased about all the aspects of enameling I was able to learn more about: triveting, wire bending and transferring and trying to make the most out of my limited unleaded colour palette."
