Letters to a Young Poet
Rilke
My reading wasn't a poem, but a series of letters from Rilke. Two things stood out to me from my limited reading/knowledge of Rilke which inspired my piece. One his description of a trip to the beach and more importantly his need/liking of solitude:
"Works of art are of an infinite solitariness and nothing less likely to bring us near to them than criticism. Only love can apprehend and hold them and can be just towards them."
"But your solitude will be your home and haven even in the midst of very strange conditions and from there you will discover all your paths."
