“ Shadowy Oracle “
"I think of the Shadowy Oracle as a mysterious presence. Its features are obscure but dimly visible. And the Oracle is probably powerful - light and color radiate from it.
I used dichroic glass in two later versions. It flashes rainbow colors but the effect is dimmed when the enamel is polished. The four preliminary enamels are in the photos.
The final Shadowy Oracle is a gold foil oval, slightly crumpled to suggest features. Engraved lines radiate from the face. The shadows are created with several layers of Thompson 834 Grey Smoke, with a single coat over the face. The final layers are dichroic glass embedded in S1 clear flux. The surface is polished, and you can see the face and glass rays change in the light.
