“Moonlit Sanctuary”

My interpretation of the theme is fairly literal. Moonlit Sanctuary calls to mind safety and shelter, along with bright moonlight. And so the design is intended to represent a gothic window with moonlight shining in, creating the play of shadow and light on the stone floor.

The piece is champleve - the outer frame and the window frame are fused to the base. The upper window is plique a jour enamel. The bottom half has the lines of the floor scored onto the silver, with the outlines provides via cloisonne. The back of the piece is the opposite - the bright yellow of the sun.
